Plateau Governor Implements New Security Measures After Deadly Attacks

Night Grazing Banned, Cattle Transport Restricted in Response to Violence

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has announced sweeping security measures following recent violent attacks that resulted in numerous casualties and property destruction across the state.

Immediate Security Measures

In a statewide address on Wednesday, Governor Mutfwang declared:

  • Complete prohibition of night grazing
  • Ban on cattle transportation after 7 PM
  • Restriction of motorcycle movement between 7 PM and 6 AM statewide

Recent Attacks Spark Action

The governor referenced two particularly devastating incidents:

“In the late hours of Sunday, April 13th, the peace of Zikwe Village in Bassa LGA was shattered by a brutal attack that claimed the lives of innocent men, women, and children. This comes while we still mourn the tragic loss of over 50 lives in Bokkos.”

Mutfwang described the attacks as “calculated, persistent, and painful,” but emphasized that “Plateau remains unbroken.”

Additional Support Measures

The state government is implementing several support initiatives:

  • Free medical care for victims at all hospitals in affected areas
  • Immediate distribution of relief materials
  • Revival of local vigilante patrols in partnership with security forces

Call for Unity and Vigilance

The governor called on all residents to remain united during this challenging time:

“To the grieving families in Zikwe, Bokkos, and beyond—your pain is ours. We mourn with you, and we will not rest until peace is restored.”

He concluded with a message of hope: “Let us remain calm, vigilant, and united. Together, we will rise beyond this grief—stronger, safer, and more determined than ever.”

The new security measures took effect immediately on April 16th as the state works to prevent further violence.
