Two AAUA Students Missing for Over Two Weeks, Campus in Panic
Students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State, Nigeria, are in distress following the mysterious disappearance of two of their colleagues. The missing students, identified as Andrel Eloho Okah and John Friday Abba, have not been seen for more than two weeks, raising fears of possible foul play.
Details of the Disappearance
Andrel Eloho Okah, a 200-level student in the Department of History and International Studies, and John Friday Abba, a second-year student in the Department of Economics, were last seen on campus before their sudden disappearance. Fellow students and faculty members have expressed deep concern over their prolonged absence from lectures and academic activities.
According to a student named Ajibola, all attempts to reach the missing students via their mobile phones have been unsuccessful. The situation has led to growing anxiety among the student body, with many fearing the worst.
“For over two weeks now, the two of them have been missing from school and academic activities in class. We searched everywhere. We can’t find them, and we’re worried about their whereabouts,” Ajibola told The Nation.
Students Demand Urgent Action
The disappearance has sparked unrest on campus, with students calling for immediate intervention from university authorities and law enforcement. Despite reports being filed with both the school management and local police, students claim that no concrete action has been taken.
“We need help, and we have reported to the school management and the police, but we are not getting the response we need. They are telling us to just calm down. There’s nothing tangible that has been done,” Ajibola lamented.
University officials have suggested that the students may have gone on an unannounced vacation, but this explanation has done little to ease tensions among their peers.
University Management Responds
A source within the university administration confirmed that the institution is aware of the situation and is working with law enforcement to investigate the matter. However, suspicions remain high regarding the circumstances of the disappearance.
“The university management is aware of the case, but we are suspecting lots of developments relating to the missing students. You would agree with me that there are a lot of unwholesome activities surrounding some of these students when on campus,” the source stated.
The official added that the police are actively involved in efforts to determine what may have happened to the missing students.
Growing Concerns Over Student Safety
The incident has reignited discussions about student safety on Nigerian university campuses. With cases of kidnapping and violent crimes on the rise in some regions, students and parents are increasingly demanding better security measures.
As the search for Andrel Eloho Okah and John Friday Abba continues, the AAUA student community remains on edge, hoping for their safe return.
