The Katsina State government has received its first container of donated medical supplies from World Medical Relief, based in Detroit, United States of America (USA).

A Government House statement on Thursday explained that the delivery stems from Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s visit to the USA in November 2023, where he met with the President of World Medical Relief, Mr George V. Samson, and his team.

According to the statement, the governor conveyed his passion for ensuring that the people of Katsina have access to high-quality healthcare and shared the results of the healthcare needs assessment conducted by the Katsina State government upon his assumption of office.

The statement, signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, noted, “Governor Radda subsequently secured a commitment for 10 containers of essential medical equipment and supplies. It should be noted that an average container contains equipment and supplies worth $1 million.

“Presently, two additional containers are en route from Lagos, while seven remain in transit on the high seas.

“Additionally, World Medical Relief expressed their commitment to help Katsina State source state-of-the-art MRIs and CT scans, including installation and training for technicians, at discounted rates.

“Governor Radda described the partnership with World Medical Relief as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to reform healthcare delivery in Katsina State.

“These medical supplies will significantly enhance our capacity to provide quality healthcare services to our citizens.

“The state government has also implemented a distribution plan to ensure these vital medical resources reach healthcare facilities efficiently.
