The National Coordinator of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Media Warriors Forum, Evang. Chinedu Obigwe, has described the newly decamped member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Chief Obiora Okonkwo, as a failed politician without any electoral value.
Reacting to Okonkwo’s recent call for opposition parties to unite and remove Governor Soludo from office in this year’s governorship election, Obigwe said Okonkwo’s proposition was dead on arrival because Soludo’s second term was a divine project that could not be thwarted by past election sore losers.
He described Okonkwo as someone who is not a good team player and who suffers from an “it must be me or no one else” mentality, citing events from the 2021 governorship election in Anambra State.
“In 2021, Obiora Okonkwo contested the PDP primary and lost to Valentine Ozigbo, despite all the dollars he wasted on PDP delegates. When he lost the primary, he defected to Zenith Labour Party because of his it-must-be-me-at-all-cost mentality. The only thing he achieved with his defection to Zenith Labour Party was playing a spoiler role for Valentine Ozigbo. Such a character, with such a mentality, cannot rally opposition politicians together for a coalition.”
“As it stands today, the Governor Soludo 2025 project is Anambra people’s divine project that has nothing to do with party affiliation. Patriotic opposition politicians are supporting Governor Soludo to run for a well-deserved second term in the forthcoming 2025 governorship election. I am talking about those who are happy with Governor Soludo’s transformation of our state into a state that we can be proud of in Nigeria.”
“Obiora Okonkwo is truly living in a fool’s paradise; hence, he is not aware that reasonable politicians in PDP, APC, and Labour Party are among those wooing Governor Soludo to contest the 2025 governorship election. They are doing this because of the glaring fact that Governor Soludo has justified the confidence reposed in him by Anambra electorates.”
Obigwe also accused Okonkwo of name-dropping, alleging that he had presented himself as the anointed candidate of a prominent Archbishop in Anambra during the 2021 governorship election but still lost.
He predicted that Okonkwo would not only lose the election if he ventured out this year but would also lose out after Soludo’s second tenure when power would be zoned to Anambra Central.
“I will make another prediction. If Obiora Okonkwo contests the 2025 election or supports any other person for the election, they will be defeated by Governor Soludo. And after Governor Soludo’s second term in office, when power returns to Anambra Central, Obiora Okonkwo will not succeed Governor Soludo in office. Case closed. Watch as this latest prediction of mine comes to fruition,” Obigwe stated.
