Afrobeat queen, Tiwa Savage has emphasized the importance of musicians developing real ties with their audience, singling out Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as those who do this and remain relevant.
Tiwa Savage highlighted on a recent edition of the ‘Shopping The Sneakers’ podcast that cultivating these ties helps fans to participate in an artist’s music, as well as their lifestyle and business.
Tiwa Savage gave insight on how her fellow Afrobeat stars, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, have remained relevant by valuing their fan relationships.
According to the award-winning performer, it’s not just about the music; artists should also consider their dress choices and general relatability.
She said: “It’s not just about the music; it’s your fanbase and your brand. You’ve to think of your fashion. You’ve to be relatable. A lot of times, artists are just putting out music; they are not really connecting with the fans.
She went on to stress that building a solid fanbase is crucial for long-term success.
“I think it’s really important to connect with the fans. If you look at Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy, they have established relationships with their fanbases.
“They love their lifestyles. Whether they are dropping a song or not, they are in the conversation. So it’s really important to build a fanbase. You are only good as strong as your team,” Tiwa Savage added.
