The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has received the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, affirming the sack of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary of the opposition party.
The CTC of the Appeal Court judgment sighted by our correspondent, yesterday night, indicated that the document was received by the office of the PDP legal officer, on December 24.
Saturday Sun gathered that with the receipt of the CTC of the judgment, the coast seems clear for the former PDP National Youth Leader, Sunday Ude-Okoye, to replace Anyanwu as the national secretary.
The PDP South East zone had in 2023, nominated the former National Youth Leader as replacement for Samuel Anyanwu following his nomination as the party’s candidate in the last Imo State governorship election.
According to the South East PDP, Anyanwu ceased to be National Secretary, immediately he emerged the party’s candidate in the Imo governorship poll. Regardless, Ude-Okoye’s nomination as National Secretary became a subject of litigation with two conflicting judgment by courts of coordinate jurisdiction. The Appeal Court had on December 20, affirmed the judgment of the High Court in Enugu, which earlier upheld Ude-Okoye’s nomination as Anyanwu’s replacement.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in a telephone interview confirmed to Saturday Sun that the party was in receipt of the judgment and would comply with the orders of the court.
