Nigerian Troops Neutralize 2 Bandits, Recover 1,000 Cattle in Taraba Operation

In a decisive operation, troops from 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) and Operation Safe Haven successfully neutralized two armed bandits and recovered approximately 1,000 stolen cattle in Taraba State.
Swift Response to Criminal Activity
According to Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 6 Brigade, the operation was launched following credible intelligence about armed bandits crossing from Plateau State into Taraba.
“The criminal elements, riding approximately 30 motorcycles, targeted a Fulani settlement near Jebjeb Village in Karim Lamido Local Government Area for cattle rustling,” Oni stated in an official release.
Coordinated Military Action
The troops mobilized rapidly, deploying forces toward Komodoro village where they engaged the fleeing bandits in a fierce firefight near the river boundary into Daji Madam Forest in Plateau State.
Key outcomes of the operation:
- Two bandits neutralized in combat
- Approximately 1,000 cattle recovered
- All livestock safely relocated to Jebjeb community
Post-Operation Procedures
Captain Oni confirmed that identification and verification processes are being arranged to ensure the recovered cattle are returned to their rightful owners.
