Yobe Philanthropist Tumsah Extends ₦200,000 Lifeline to Accident Victim

A Tragic Accident in Benin
In a heartwarming display of compassion, prominent Yobe State philanthropist Barrister Kashim Musa Tumsah, MFR, has intervened to assist Muazu Mohammad Bukar, a young man who suffered severe injuries in a horrific accident in Benin, Edo State. The ₦200,000 cash donation comes at a critical time as the victim undergoes treatment for multiple fractures at Yobe State University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH) in Damaturu.
The accident occurred under tragic circumstances when Muazu, seeking shelter from the elements, had fallen asleep beneath a stationary trailer. Unaware of the sleeping man’s presence, the driver started the vehicle, crushing Muazu’s right side as the trailer began moving.
From Desperation to Hope
Muazu’s mother, Zara Abdullahi (affectionately known as Aunty Yana), recounted her son’s journey to Benin in search of better opportunities, only to return home with life-altering injuries. “He was brought back to Potiskum for medical treatment last July,” she explained, her voice trembling with emotion. “I spent everything I had, but couldn’t afford the second surgery he desperately needed.”

The family’s fortunes changed when Dr. Hassan Gimba connected them with Barrister Tumsah’s humanitarian network. The cash assistance was delivered by Sa’adatu Maina, a representative of the philanthropist, directly to the hospital where Muazu continues his recovery.
A Mother’s Gratitude
Overwhelmed by the gesture, Zara expressed profound gratitude: “I deeply appreciate this generosity. I pray Almighty Allah rewards all those who have helped my son and me during this difficult time.” Her words echoed the relief felt by countless families who have benefited from Tumsah’s interventions across Yobe State.
Continuing a Legacy of Compassion
This act of kindness follows Barrister Tumsah’s recent sponsorship of a major healthcare initiative under the Light Up Yobe program. The Kashim Musa Tumsah Medical Outreach, organized in collaboration with the Yobe State Medical Students Association (YOMSA), provided free medical care to 600 residents of Dikumari Ward in Damaturu.

The philanthropist has also made headlines for his educational interventions, including rewarding Yobe students who excelled in global competitions with ₦500,000 each and brand-new laptops. His humanitarian efforts extend to disaster relief as well, with his foundation donating ₦1 million to flood victims in Gulani communities through the Haskay Forum.
The Road to Recovery
As Muazu continues his treatment, medical professionals at YSUTH remain hopeful about his recovery prospects. The timely financial intervention will cover critical surgical procedures and post-operative care that might otherwise have been inaccessible to the family.

This story highlights the transformative power of targeted philanthropy in Nigeria’s healthcare landscape. While systemic challenges persist, individual acts of generosity continue to bridge gaps in access to medical care, offering hope to vulnerable populations when they need it most.
