Nuhu Lafarma Education Foundation Celebrates 18 Years of Impact in Niger State

Scholarships, Empowerment, and Humanitarian Interventions

The Nuhu Lafarma Education Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Agaie Local Council of Niger State, has marked 18 years of transformative humanitarian work. Over the years, the foundation has provided scholarships, medical care, skills acquisition programs, and support for vulnerable groups, including children, women, convicts, and the sick.

Educational and Economic Empowerment

Brigadier General Muhammad Bello Abdullahi (Rtd), Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), disclosed that the foundation has sponsored over 1,000 postgraduate students through full scholarships and bursary awards, disbursing more than N750 million in educational support. Additionally, the foundation has trained and empowered over 2,000 individuals in vocational skills through partnerships with Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) organizations, distributing 5,000 starter packs to beneficiaries.

Healthcare and COVID-19 Relief Efforts

Beyond education, the foundation has conducted 10 medical outreaches, covering medical and surgical expenses for over 250 patients. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it donated safety and relief materials worth millions of naira to hospitals in Niger State and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Community Development Initiatives

The foundation has also improved access to clean water by drilling hundreds of boreholes across communities. General Abdullahi called on well-meaning individuals to support the foundation’s mission through donations for the betterment of humanity.

Recognition and Support from Leaders

Speaking at the unveiling of a JAMB CBT center named after the 12th Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umaru Bago Tafida III, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, commended the foundation for its contributions to social and economic development. Represented by Brigadier General Madukpe Falana, he pledged personal support to help the foundation achieve its objectives.

Similarly, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar, praised the foundation for uplifting living standards and empowering thousands through skills training. Represented by Pharmacist Yahaya Mayaki, he urged affluent individuals to contribute to the foundation’s initiatives.
