Nigeria Distributes N1.681 Trillion April Revenue Among FG, States, and LGCs

The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed a total of N1.681 trillion to Nigeria’s three tiers of government as April 2025 revenue allocation. The disbursement follows the committee’s May meeting chaired by Finance Minister Wale Edun.

Revenue Breakdown and Distribution

According to a statement by Mohammed Manga, spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance, the funds were drawn from a gross total of N2.848 trillion generated in April. The allocation includes revenue from:

  • Gross Statutory Revenue
  • Value Added Tax (VAT)
  • Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL)
  • Exchange Difference

Key Allocations

The distribution breakdown shows:

  • Federal Government: N565.307 billion
  • State Governments: N556.741 billion
  • Local Government Councils: N406.627 billion
  • Oil Producing States (13% Derivation): N152.553 billion

An additional N101.051 billion was allocated for collection costs, while N1.066 trillion was designated for transfers, interventions, and refunds.

Revenue Sources and Performance

The FAAC communiqué revealed significant increases in several revenue streams:

  • Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT)
  • Oil and Gas Royalties
  • Value Added Tax (VAT)
  • Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL)
  • Excise Duty
  • Import Duty and CET Levies

However, Company Income Tax (CIT) recorded a decrease compared to previous months.

VAT and Statutory Revenue Details

Gross VAT revenue for April stood at N642.265 billion, marking a N4.647 billion increase from March’s N637.618 billion. After deductions, N598.077 billion was distributed to the three tiers of government.

Statutory revenue reached N2.084 trillion, significantly higher than March’s N1.718 trillion. After necessary allocations, N962.882 billion was shared among federal, state, and local governments.

Minister’s Remarks on Sustainable Development

Finance Minister Wale Edun emphasized that domestic revenue mobilization remains crucial for Nigeria’s sustainable development financing. He commended FAAC members for their dedication in performing their duties.
