Nigerian Correctional Service Offers N5 Million Reward for Information on Escaped Inmates
Public Urged to Assist in Recapturing Fugitives
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has announced a N5 million cash reward for credible information leading to the rearrest of inmates who recently escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ilesha, Osun State.
This development was confirmed in an official statement released on Tuesday by Abubakar Umar, the Service Public Relations Officer, in Abuja.
Encouraging Public Cooperation
Umar explained that the substantial reward is part of strategic efforts to encourage public participation in tracking down the fleeing inmates and ensuring their swift return to lawful custody.
“The NCoS urges citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement or persons believed to be among the escapees,” the statement emphasized.
Confidentiality Guaranteed
The spokesperson assured potential informants that all tips would be handled with the highest level of confidentiality and anonymity. He appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies by reporting any useful information to the nearest security outpost.
Umar further encouraged the public to act promptly and responsibly to support national security efforts in recapturing the fugitives.
This report is based on information from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
