… Says ‘I’m looking forward to playing role that has to do with incantation’

By Damilola Fatunmise

Talented light-skinned actress and producer, Precious Babatunde, has graced the screens for over a decade.

Known for her roles in films like “Exchange,” “Comment Section,” and “Equal Lines,” she shared her inspiring journey, challenges, and aspirations with Sunday Sun.

As a producer, how many movies have you done?

I have produced four movies: Lost Smile, Last Intention, Necklace and Bi Mo Se Yan.

How many movies have you acted in?

I have honestly lost count of movies that I have featured in, but I can mention a few recent ones like Abumatan, Exchange, My Love Story, Comment Section and Equal Lies. I can’t remember all at the moment.

Can you remember the year you joined the movie industry?

I can say I joined the industry in the year 2014, but I have been off and on, I can say I am fully back.

Who trained you, or which group do you belong to?

I joined a group called “Focus Group” in Abeokuta back then and graduated before I started my production.

Tell us about your educational background?

I did my National Diploma (ND) at Wolex Polytechnic, where I studied  Mass Communication, then proceeded to Ecotes University Benin Republic for my BSCE on the same course.

Which projects are you working on at the moment?

I am currently working on my new release entitled “Beyond Love “ and “Arigisegi”.

What’s your opinion about the present Nollywood?

Nollywood is already making a lot of progress now, and I believe with more effort, it will grow beyond our expectations; I can say I am impressed, and I am grateful and proud that I am part of the success story.

Can you mention four actors you look forward to acting with?

Funke Akindele, Jade Osiberu, Biodun Stephen, Niyi Akinmolayan and Kunle Afolayan.

Why them?

I would say I admire the way they interpret roles effortlessly, and I love their crafts as well; they are my role models when it comes to acting and producing movies.

The industry is currently in a phase where practitioners have to give their best to stay relevant, how prepared are you for this stage?

I have been off and on in the industry, which I know doesn’t help me in any way, but right now, I have decided to go all out by investing in my career and showcasing my talent for the world to see. Giving up is no longer an option for me at this present stage of my career. I will push till the world can reckon with me and my works, God help me.

Since you became an actor, what has been the most thrilling experience you have had so far?

A lot, but I would rather not say anything about it for now.

Looking at the structure of the movie industry, what are your chances of making a difference?

I believe with my talent, efforts, and hard work; I will surely get there. The sky is big enough for everyone. This industry is a world on its own, and if you are smart and determined enough, everyone will shine without feeling intimidated by anybody’s success or achievement.

Do you feel threatened by anyone in the industry?

Not at all, like I said earlier, the sky is big enough for us all. One thing is, I can’t be you, and you can’t be me, we all have one special gift that another doesn’t possess. Just discover yours and stay focused.

What comes first to your mind when you get a script?

The first thing that always comes to my mind is how to bring the script to life and bring my game to it.

What challenging role would you like to play?

I’m looking forward to playing the role that has to do with incantation. I want to see myself playing that role so badly, and it is going to happen very soon.

How much of yourself can you give to interpret any role?

My all. I love to give in to everyone of me to interpret any role given to me.

What inspires your creativity?

Reality. I love working on stories that people can relate to.

What else do you do aside acting?

I’m a business lady. I love money so much, so I do a lot of businesses that bring me money. I sell wears and I am also a Lash Tech.

What is your definition of beauty?

Being comfortable in whatever you put on.

What are the things that motivate you in life?

Good things in life. I love seeing people doing well for themselves and happy, and through that I get motivated too to do better for myself without feeling bad about the success of others.

Who are your supporters?

Hmmm, God is my supporter so far. I work so hard for myself to get whatever I want, and my greatest passion is never wanting to beg for a living, so I do my best to be independent.

What inspires you the most?

Money inspires me the most because I believe money answers all, and that’s why I always say to myself that having money is a must for me.

What are your expectations like?

Honestly, I’m not the type that expects anything; I just go with the flow of anywhere I find myself because too much of expectations cause disappointment.

How can you say social media has affected your industry?

Social media has done more harm than good in my own opinion. Even though it has its good side too, I think the damage it’s causing is getting too much. Imagine all these children who are not even up to some of our senior colleagues insulting and cursing them for something that has nothing to do with their lives.

How is fame treating you?

Fame is sweet, although I am not that big yet, but honestly, I’m already enjoying the benefits that come with it.

Can you tell us about your bad and good moments?

I don’t think my good moments can ever end by the special grace of God because anytime I want to achieve a certain thing and I’m able to do it, it always gives me joy. It’s my happy moment. I have a lot of bad moments, too, but I would rather keep that to myself because I don’t love to celebrate that.
