Bode George, a PDP chieftain, claims that Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains the party’s leader in the state and that the party’s success requires the support of all members.

George urged Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike to reconcile to restore peace to the state.

It should be recalled that there has been political tension in the state, as evidenced by several unsettling occurrences since the two men fell out politically.

The most recent incident was burning certain local government secretariats in the state on Monday, just before freshly elected local government officials were about to begin work.

On Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, George stated that his primary goal is to restore peace to the oil-rich state.

He added that he would not take sides but seek justice, equity, and fairness in Rivers State politics.

The PDP chieftain revealed that he and other members of the PDP Board of Trustees had attempted to reconcile Wike and Fubara.

“Justice is, who is the leader of the party in the state? It is not the minister, it is this governor.

“So, we have to stand by him – the beauty of it is he stated categorically that he wasn’t leaving the party and then they carried out this election.

“I spoke with the chairman of the board of trustees and then made an attempt with a group of BOT members to visit Fubara to listen to his side and then after I spoke with Wike that he should give an appointment that we are coming to see him,” he said.
