Despite ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State, Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara is currently attending an Iftar gathering hosted by President Bola Tinubu.
This comes as Fubara navigates a complex crisis at home, where he recently invited lawmakers to a reconciliation meeting following a Supreme Court judgment aimed at resolving the state’s political impasse.
It is the first Iftar gathering at the Presidential Villa, marking the breaking of fast during Ramadan.
The event has in attendance governors, lead by the chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Alex Otti of Abia, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Hyacinth Alia of governors from Benue, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, and Gombe of Inuwa Yahaya.
Others are Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Babagana Zulum of Borno, Abba Yusuf of Kano, Bala Muhammad of Bauchi, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra, and Monday Okpebholo of Edo.
Senior officials also in attendance included the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila the Chairman of the Hajj Commission, the Head of the Correctional Service, the Fire Service, Customs, and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) among others.
