Amid defection by opposition members of the House of Representatives to the All Progressives Congress( APC), the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has said it would no longer serve as Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for politicians to achieve their ambition.
The ADC National chairman, Chief Okey Nwosu, stated this, at a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) in Abuja, yesterday.
Nwosu, who decried the lack of political ideology by Nigerian politicians, said the opposition party would no longer allow politicians to use its platform to gain elective office only to defect to other parties thereafter.
The ADC chairman, while stating that the party has resolved all its internal issues, using Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said the NEC meeting marks a new beginning for the party.
The opposition party had been rocked by crises prior to the 2023 general elections, owing to power tussles between some leaders.
Nwosu explained that with resolution of all internal issues, the party has begun a rebuilding process and has lifted the ban placed on some members.
“After 20 years, we must get it right. If I offended you, this is the time to forgive and we must make progress.
“We must forge big alliances like the one we are forging with PRP. I want us to come with the heart of love. By 2025, our party will become the number one party in Nigeria.
“Why do we elect few members in the elective positions? Why can’t we have the majority in the House?”
Nwosu added that it was time the country started building institutions that can stand the test of time.
