Afrobeats singer, Davido has claimed that he has received threats following his criticism of the Nigerian economy on an American podcast.
Daily Sun recalls that Davido, on an American podcast called ‘Big Homies House,’ warned US citizens against contemplating relocation to Africa, especially Nigeria, saying the country’s economy is in “shambles.”
His comments sparked outrage, with famous Nigerians such as Joe Igbokwe, Reno Omokri, and others openly condemning him.
Reacting to the backlash, Davido claimed his critics are angry because entertainers are the “real ambassadors.”
On his X handle, he wrote, “Yall mad cus we the real ambassadors!”
In another tweet, Davido claimed that his December show in Lagos is under threat due to his words.
He wrote, “Dem say dem go cancel my show cus of my interview … loooool I don’t have to perform in Nigeria.”
