The Governors of Bauchi, Osun, Bayelsa and Oyo states, Bala Mohammed, Ademola Adeleke, Douye Diri and Seyi Makinde have called on the people of Ondo State to be watchful during tomorrow’s governorship election to prevent rigging.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors who spoke at the grand finale of the PDP campaign in Akure, yesterday, alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had perfected plans to rig the election.

They said the proactiveness and resilience of the people, especially members of the PDP in the state, would prevent rigging in the election.

They, therefore, advised the voters to monitor their votes and ensure they did not leave the polling centres after exercising their votes, saying is the only way by which their votes could count.

The governors said the PDP members should not allow a repeat of the Edo State scenario, stressing the need for them to monitor their votes closely. They also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the votes of the people count.

Governor Mohammed said the party was united, asking voters to vote out the APC-led government.

Alhaji Umar Damangum, acting national chairman of the party who received some defectors from the APC, urged PDP members not to allow “enemies of democracy” to steal their votes. He charged party’s supporters and electorate not to yield to intimidation during the election but to cast their votes for the party and defend their votes till final collation.

The governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi, also warned against violence during the election, just as he urged his supporters to be patient till the results of the election were announced officially by INEC.
