Nigerian music legend Bright Chimezie has publicly applauded Afrobeats stars Davido and Omah Lay for their chart-topping collaboration “With You,” which creatively samples his iconic 1980s track “Because of English.”

In a viral Instagram video posted on Thursday, the veteran musician was seen joyfully dancing to the modern rendition of his classic work.

“You can see I am vibing to the song already. It’s a beautiful piece of work, very wonderful. I appreciate the fact that you said you picked the inspiration from this song I recorded many years ago; I appreciate you for that,” Chimezie remarked enthusiastically.

Davido’s Touching Response

The “Unavailable” crooner responded with deep respect in Igbo: “Ihe di ka gi akokwala m. Chief Sir Bright Chimezie, Ezigbote Onye Egwu,” meaning “People like you inspire me. Chief Sir Bright Chimezie, a true music legend.”
