A group under the aegis of APC Stakeholders for Fairness and Justice has called on the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, to urgently intervene and rescue the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state from what they described as “imminent implosion and total collapse.”

In a press statement signed by the group’s Chairman, Mohammed Bala, and Secretary, Shehu Usman, on Wednesday, the stakeholders expressed concerns over the leadership style of the party’s State Chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello. They accused him of compromising his objectivity due to his close relationship with Senator Ahmed Wadada, a serving senator representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District.

The group cited a recent interview granted by Dr Bello to The Eyewitness Newspapers, where he reportedly stated, “Nothing can come between him and his bosom friend, Senator Ahmed Wadada.” The stakeholders alleged that this public admission highlights a bias that could affect the party’s unity and integrity, particularly as the ward and state congresses draw closer.

They warned that Dr Bello’s perceived favouritism could derail the party’s efforts, stating: “If Aliyu Bello is allowed to lead our party going forward, he will use the party to deliver his friend and isolate others, which is detrimental to the APC. The party may be tailored to realise the ambition of one individual, leaving others sidelined.”

The group further expressed fears that if Senator Wadada eventually contests under another political party, Dr Bello’s divided loyalty could compromise the APC’s chances in future elections.

They also cautioned that the disenfranchisement of other loyal party members could lead to internal protests, ultimately weakening the party’s structure.

“In the face of the unanimous resolve of Nasarawa electorates across the state to prioritise indigenous nationality above all else, we cannot allow the ambitions of two individuals to derail our collective efforts to deliver good governance through the APC,” the statement read.

The stakeholders urged Governor Abdullahi Sule to critically examine their concerns and ensure that a neutral and loyal leader emerges to lead the APC into the future.

They emphasised that the party’s unity and success in upcoming elections depend on fairness, inclusivity, and objectivity in leadership.

The group expressed optimism that Governor Sule’s intervention would restore confidence among party members and strengthen the APC’s position in Nasarawa State.
