•Says PDP ‘ll never rule Nigeria again
From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja
National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has hinged the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on inordinate ambitions and lack of proper coordination.
He made the claim when he received a PDP Delta State chieftain, Ossai Nicholas Ossai, who defected to the APC at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, yesterday.
Ajibola argued that it would be impossible for Nigerians to trust a party that cannot put its house in order to rule the country again.
“Of all political parties in Nigeria, our party has continued to wax stronger and you see opposition parties, particularly the PDP, are in serious crisis occasioned by inordinate ambitions and lack of proper coordination.”
“The question is, can Nigerians trust a party that cannot even put its house in order to rule the country. So, thank you for abandoning that already dilapidated structure,” he said.
Earlier, Ossai, a member of third House of Representatives, hinged his decision to join the APC on the laudable achievements President Bola Tinubu have recorded so far, promising to join hands to kill and bury PDP in his State, Delta.
“I have been in PDP for some time, I have been in the National Assembly as a three timer under the platform of PDP, but the umbrella has broken down. I remember during the SDP time, we saw the President as a role model and today, he is still my role model and when he came into governance, I had no other place than to come into APC – to work for him and to strengthen his government.
“I am here with my teeming supporters, I have gone to my ward, a card has been issued to me. I have also attended the senatorial meeting of the APC. I have come today to inform you that I am in the fold now and I need your blessings. I am one of your foot soldiers in Delta and I have come to declare personally before you today and to tell you that I will abide by the rules, the laws, the constitution governing APC.
“I will go back to Delta State to champion Asiwaju Renewed Hope. The programmes are great programmes. The revolution in the agricultural sector is benefiting Nigerians today.
“PDP today has been broken down. You ask a question, why is it not fixed? It is because the centre cannot hold. And having seen a leader that not only organises a political party, but a leader that can organise the society and move the society forward. As a tender person, as I was during the SDP eras. I was following Tinubu. He was my leader in Lagos. We will help to kill the PDP in Delta State,” he said.
