From Okwe Obi, Abuja

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has moved to address all internal wrangling as its Chairman, Unity and Reconciliation Committee (URC) in the Federal Capital Territory chapter, Senator Usman Jibril Wowo, has called on all aggrieved members of the party to build bridges of unity and not walls of division.

He called on all members of the party to take advantage of the internal reconciliatory structure of the party to vent their anger for an amicable resolution so as to amplify the name of the FCT as the Centre of Unity.

Wowo stated this in Abuja while felicitating with the Muslim Ummah for a successful Ramadan season which culminated in the celebration of Sallah.

“Let us come together and talk about these differences and forge a united headway towards a bigger APC in the future, we must know that the area council elections are just around the corner,” he said.

According to the chairman of the reconciliation committee, there could be no better time to speak to each other as brothers and sisters than this period of total demonstration of faith and obedience to the Almighty, whose mercy and favour has guided everyone through the season.

He said it is not an accident that the Christians are also observing the Lenten season, which is an expression of faith and obedience to God.

He said while it is human to suffer imperfection, it is also for man to continue to exercise understanding and forgiveness towards one another, where such a need arises, but this can only come where there are clear communications between parties involved in the conflict.

Wowo said Nigerians in exercise of their grievances should approach conflict resolution with open mind so that parties would make way forward in unity.

He said the move by the party to reconcile all aggrieved members has become important following the unpleasant performance of the party in the last area council elections.

He argued that ahead of the next area council elections, it was proper for all the grieving parties to come together and share their reservations for an amicable resolution of the differences which can only be resolved by talking together.

He noted that the reconciliation committee was in accordance with the party’s constitution to retain its members at all times.

He said: “The party has a duty to promote reconciliation, encourage and facilitate the settlement of disputes in amicable manner among members of the party.”
