Akwa Ibom state chapter of the People Democratic Party(PDP) and All Progressive Congress ( APC) yesterday exchange gifts to celebrate both Christmas and New Year in the state.
The Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio while acknowledging receipt of 1000 bags of rice from the Leader of PDP in the state pastor Umo Eno during his constituency briefing at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium said he has also sent 1,500 bags of rice to PDP family in Akwa Ibom .
Akpabio who stormed the state with different gift items to empower his people maintained that the state governor pastor Umo Eno has done everything possible to maintain peace .
He appreciated Eno for giving him approval to contest for second term in 2027 adding that when one is escorted by a lion , the fear of lizard is inconsequential.
” The state governor pastor Umo Eno has approved my election for second term . My second term is done deal . If you are escorted by a Lion ,no need to fear anything.
” Let me thank governor Umo Eno for sending 1000 bags of rice to APC family in the state . . He has shown interest in maintaining peace across party lines in the state . For that gesture , I have also sent in 1500 bags to PDP family in the state . They have sent in their representatives to carry it here.
” Why we empower people is to encourage them to empower others. In this empowerment, we have capture the youths , People Living with Disabilities, other political parties and even other parts of Nigeria.”
Akpabio recalled that Nigeria was on life support when APC took over governance and encouraged Nigerians to stay with the party despite the painful economic reform policies of the present administration.
“But despite this , the president has created the south east development commission for fast track development in the region ”
