Fully intent on pushing his music to a global audience, singer and songwriter, Dada Muheez, also known as King Muzet, who thrilled the audience at FELABRATION, has made great progress in his quest to set up a distribution company to promote and market his songs and those of other upcoming artistes.
King Muzet, who hails from Sango Ota in Ogun and a student at Lead City University, Ibadan, where he is studying Computer and Information Science, told ENTERTAINER in a chat that his musical ranges from Afrobeat, Jazz, HipHop to Classical.
Recounting what sparked his interest to go into music, he said: “I started music in 2015/2016. Got into the studio in 2017 to make a mixtape. I was inspired by Olamide, a well known Nigerian singer. I started listening to his songs in 2012 and I fell in love with his songs, his rap and the way he switched flows. His voice and unique sound inspired me a lot just like Wande Coal.
“I’m into hip hop, Afrosound, Afrobeat and AfroPop. I released my first single featuring Bola Boy in 2018 titled, Only Your Love. After that I dropped another song titled, For the Hood. The beat was just like Fela’s beat. People accepted it and I performed at Felabration 2018. I have six to eight tracks .
Still an undergraduate, Muheez said a new song is in the pipeline, though he conceded that the process has been slowed down by school activities. “So now, I’m ready to start recording and giving back to back songs”
The astute young artiste further said: «Being an upcoming musician is not easy. We keep hustling everyday, pushing our craft so people can see us and appreciate the little talent we have. It’s really challenging.»
Asked if he had any plans regarding the entertainment industry, Muheez said: “Yes, I’m currently working on establishing a distribution company to facilitate the reach of my music to a wider audience. Additionally, I aspire to become a producer, creating opportunities for talented artistes and contributing to the growth of the Nigerian music scene.”
